Permits and certificates

How to obtain a permit or certificate: procedures and waiting period

To obtain a building permit or authorization certificate, you must go to the administrative office of the City of Huntingdon in order to complete a license application form or certificate to submit a description of your project. Once the form is filled out properly, you cover the costs for processing your request.

Building permit application form

It is prohibited to start the work for which a building permit or authorization certificate is required before first obtaining a permit or authorization certificate.

The maximum time for processing an application for a permit is forty (40) calendar days, and the maximum time for processing an application for an authorization certificate is thirty (30) calendar days, and this only after the receipt of all required documents, whether the application is approved or not. However, for minor work, the building permit or authorization certificate may be issued on the spot or within a few days.

Some areas of the city’s territory are subject to regulations on site planning and architectural integration plan, and some uses are subject to a by-law on conditional use. In this case, obtaining a building permit or authorization certificate shall be subject to an additional procedure for approval by City Council, who may impose special conditions.
